"Maisie Dobbs" was an "Agatha Award Winner" for best first novel and a New York Times notable book of the year! Maisie Dobbs had a bright future waiting for her at college in Cambridge, England, but her dreams were broken by the outbreak of World War I. She served as a nurse on the frontlines, and was changed forever by her experiences there. After the war is over, she begins her own business as a private investigator. She is asked to be involved in two cases involving The Retreat, a convalescent working farm for ex-soldiers trying to find healing away from the world. She's brought face to face with troubles she's been trying to run from for over ten years.
